Xiaomi’s beautiful flagship Mi 8 was quietly announced last week. The powerful smartphone goes on sale at Lazada and Shopee starting today (6GB RAM + 64GB storage model). The higher spec 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model will hit authorised Mi Stores, Lazada and Shopee starting 18 August. It looks like there’s another outlet that will be offering the new device – the Mi Store at IOI City Mall Putrajaya.
According the Xiaomi, it will be the first offline launch of the Mi 8 at the IOI Mi Store. There will be an exclusive early-bird promo where the first 100 buyers of the Mi 8 6GB RAM + 128GB model will receive a free Amazefit Bip.
There will be plenty of fun activities happening during the launch with key opinion leaders gracing the event as well.
For those interested to purchase the new flagship, the queue starts at 10AM and the order books will be open at 11AM.
As a recap, the Mi 8 is Xiaomi’s latest flagship that features powerful top-of-the-line hardware that includes the Snapdragon 845 chip with Artificial Intelligence Engine (AIE) and Adreno 630 graphics.
In the camera department, it packs the best camera ever on Xiaomi’s range of devices. The 12MP AI dual-camera (also seen on the Mi MIX 2S) is an impressive performer, scoring a scorching 105 points in the photo score on DxOMark.

On the front it gets a 20MP selfie shooter with pixel binning technology. Let’s not forget that there’s AI-enabled Studio Lighting and AI Beautify 5.0.
A cool addition is an infrared camera paired with a dedicated infrared illuminator on the front that enables face unlock. Face unlock works accurately even in a pitch black environment.
In terms of display, the Mi 8 features a 6.21-inch FHD+ AMOLED full screen display that delivers an impressive 86.68 percent screen-to-body ratio.
The device packs a 3,400mAh battery that charges up via USB Type-C and supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+.
