U Mobile is galloping into the new year with refreshed postpaid and prepaid offerings, as well as exclusive promotions for its U Card loyalty program.
At the fun-filled media launch, Jasmine Lee, U Mobile’s Director of Marketing said, “We will continue to surprise our customers and introduce more innovative products and services that meet their mobile needs, enabling them to stay connected with friends and family. Our new prepaid and postpaid offerings, along with the new enhancements within the U Card programme, are also timely, as customers can be relieved from hefty mobile expenses in the midst of rising cost of living.”
Lee revealed some updated statistics on the internet scene in Malaysia. Out of the 29 million population, 60.7% are connected to the internet. And 66% are connected via broadband. Mobile phone penetration is over 140%, a number not wholly a surprise. 36% of that are smartphones.
The most connected people are within the 15-24 and 25-34 age range.
Lowest entry postpaid in Malaysia #thebestunlimited
For the longest time, the young telco has remained largely silent in the postpaid market. Moving into 2014 however, U Mobile aims to grow its postpaid business. The new Unlimited 50 and Unlimited 80 plans are designed for youth, first jobbers and existing prepaid user who are looking to upgrade.
Labelling the new plans with the hashtag #thebestunlimited, the new plans offer unlimited free calls to any U Mobile user at any time of day, unlimited high speed mobile internet and also 4G LTE internet speeds in selected areas within Klang Valley and Johor Bahru. Other areas are covered by high speed 3G.
Subject to fair usage policy, U Mobile customers can still surf without additional charges when their data quota runs out.
U Mobile’s new postpaid offering is reputed to be the lowest entry plan in the market, where it also comes with Internet and Calls Sharing services. It is the first telco to offer call and internet sharing of up to three mobile devices.
Furthermore, customers travelling to China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam can enjoy attractive unlimited Internet roaming service, capped at a maximum of RM30 per day.
Still the best, cheapest prepaid #thebestfree
U Mobile’s bread-and-butter, is undoubtedly its prepaid service, currently serving over 5 million subscribers. The telco has refreshed its prepaid plans, adding free calls and mobile internet after every top-up. Subscribers can also surf the internet at unthrottled speeds of up to 4Mbps upon exceeding their data limits. Yes, no 64kbps throttling.
Customers also enjoy free calls to all U Mobile users, and enjoy twice the validity period in the market. #thebestfree remains the best.
The popular Unlimited Mobile Internet (UMI) Plan for UMI 28 and UMI 38 has been given an enhancement too, where customers are given 1GB of data plus free calls and SMS.
