Speaking of this achievement, Dr. Kaizad Heerjee, CEO of U Mobile, said “We are extremely proud of reaching this significant milestone. This achievement proves that our products and services are well received in the market. We would like to extend our thanks to our customers for their continuous support. Thank you for believing in us.”
“We believe the basics like SMS, data and calls should be extremely affordable, which is one of the many reasons why U Mobile’s offerings appeal to consumers,” continued Kaizad. “We have deliberately kept our infrastructure investment to a minimum through strategic network sharing agreements with partners such as Maxis, so that the savings of infrastructure development can help U Mobile to focus on bringing more products and services innovation to benefit the customers.”
Much of U Mobile’s success could be linked to its rebranding exercise which began in 2011, enhancing its prepaid offerings to include nationwide on-net free calls, free SMS, unlimited mobile internet and zero roaming charges for U Mobile customers when they are in Singapore, popular amongst Malaysians and Singaporeans that travel between the two countries often.
Coupled with its own 42Mbps HSPA+ network is its wide distribution channels, ranging from U Mobile service centres, at all Cosway outlets, 7-Elevens, and Singer outlets nationwide, to hypermarket chains such as Giant, Tesco and even at independent convenient stores located in residential areas. These unique services and value-added offerings found in U Mobile’s prepaid services have bagged U Mobile to win the “Best New Service Award” during GoMobile Innovation Awards which was held not too long ago.
U Mobile has also achieved the ‘Most Promising Service Provider of the Year’ award at the 2012 Frost & Sullivan Malaysia Excellence Awards and was also named the industry’s “Rising Star” at the PC.Com 12th Readers Choice Awards 2011.

U MOBILE HITS TWO MILLION
U Mobile achieves its two million registered subscriber milestone ahead of schedule
Kuala Lumpur, 18 May 2012 – U Mobile, Malaysia’s most dynamic and innovative service provider, now has over two million registered subscriber, a milestone which is a testament to its best value products and services the company offers Malaysian consumers. The announcement comes only nine months after U Mobile first announcement of securing one million subscribers last year.
Commenting on the significance of reaching this goal ahead of time, Dr. Kaizad Heerjee, CEO of U Mobile, said, “We are extremely proud of reaching this significant milestone. This achievement proves that our products and services are well received in the market. We would like to extend our thanks to our customers for their continuous support. Thank you for believing in us.”
U Mobile embarked on a rebranding exercise in early 2011 when Kaizad took reign of the telco. Its postpaid service was also repackaged, combining voice, SMS and data plans in a single package. This all-in-one plan catered to first jobbers and young executives segment is widely recognized as the best value postpaid package in the market.
The company continued to prove its leadership when it took the broadband market by storm with the introduction of its 42Mbps mobile broadband service in September 2011. Providing the fastest mobile broadband in the nation has contributed significantly to U Mobile hitting its two million subscriber target early.
U Mobile currently has its own 3G network over 1900 sites in the Klang Valley, Johor Bahru, Penang, Port Dickson and Negeri Sembilan, providing 42Mbps fastest mobile broadband speed to its customer. In areas outside the above mentioned region, its synergistic cooperation with Maxis on 3G RAN sharing which is the first of its kind in Asia, allows customers to enjoy nationwide coverage for the usage of voice, sms and data.
U Mobile customers can also enjoy greater accessibility to products and services via the telco’s broad distribution channels.
