Android

In the same analysis by Nielsen, 48.5% of smartphones being used are Android phones. This is a huge figure, which keeps the brand dominant in the smartphone market. There are many reasons that Android is the dominant brand. Some of these are the features that cannot be found in other smartphone brands. These include alternate keyboards, automation, custom home launchers, widgets, removable storage and battery, wireless app installation custom ROMs, controlling your phone from your computer, flash and true app integration. These features are very practical for many users. For example, professionals find the automation feature very efficient as it helps them control the applications that they need to use based on time and location.

On the other hand, 32% of Americans use the iPhone. Though it is far behind the Android, it has remained the single and biggest brand of smartphones. One of the reasons for this is also the smart features it offers. Some of the features are iPod, calendar, video playback, email, web browsing, camera, apps, iPhone home screen, volume button, hold button, home button, ringer button, dock connector and many others. Consumers love this brand because it allows them to experience the best and most complete web browsing.

Blackberry

Aside from Android and iPhone, 11.6% of US consumers use the Blackberry brand. Like the first two brands, Blackberry also boasts of superior features. Some of these are built-in speaker phone, voice activated dialling, polyphonic and mp3 ringtones, Bluetooth, voicemail attachment playback, long lasting battery, networks, demo and desktop phone functionality. These advanced features of Blackberry promise users an exceptional voice experience, which is necessary for better and clearer communication.

And then there’s the rest

Aside from these brands, 4.1% of consumers use Windows Mobile, 1.7% use Windows Phone, and 2.1% use other brands.
