It’s been two years since Sony blew us away with the ground-breaking (and not to mention sexy) A1 Series BRAVIA OLED TV. Today at its regional media event in Singapore, the consumer electronics giant unveiled its 2019 TV portfolio headlined by the flagship A9G 4K OLED TV — the latest addition to its MASTER Series TV line-up. The MASTER Series represents the very best of Sony and features premium design, pro-grade quality, colour, contrast and clarity.
The A9G will look familiar and that’s not a bad thing. That means a sleek, minimalist design with an incredibly thin, slate-like form factor.
The new model boasts the next generation X1 Ultimate picture processor that incorporates several key technologies: Object-based Super Resolution, Object-based HDR remaster, Super Bit Mapping 4K HDR and Dual Database processing.
The processor improved SD and HD content to near 4K HDR quality and also shows true 4K content in stunning clarity.
Pixel Contrast Booster enhances colour and contrast in bright areas.
The A9G offers unprecedented clarity and detail and even feature Netflix Calibrated Mode with support for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
The original A Series was cutting-edge and featured a ground-breaking new proprietary audio technology. Called Acoustic Surface, the technology turns the entire OLED panel into a high-frequency speaker.
This is made possible by four audio actuators on the back of the panel, two on either side. The actuators deliver vibrations to the panel according to the visual action on screen.
The new A9G boasts the enhanced Acoustic Surface Audio+ technology – now with a larger surface area and dual sub-woofers. The Sound-from-Picture Reality feature faithfully reproduces the position of the sound on screen, providing a more immersive sound experience.
That aside, a TV Centre Speaker Mode now lets you use the TV as a centre speaker.

The A9G runs Android TV – supporting a wide range of apps from Google Play including YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Video, as well as deep smart home integration. It even has Google Assistant built-in.
Apple fans will be happy to know that the A9G is compatible with Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit, as do many of the latest crop of smart TVs. AirPlay 2 lets you stream content directly from hour iPhone, iPad or Mac right to your Sony TV.
HomeKit lets you easily and securely control smart home products using the Home app or by asking Siri. AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support will launch in A9G, X95G, X85G models in 2019.
