For the uninitiated, Bada is Samsung’s own proprietary mobile platform. Little known to many, Bada, which means “ocean” and “seashore” in Korea, has been around for 10 years. Samsung sold 300 million handsets in 2011, making it the biggest handset manufacturer in world. Over 4.5 million phones currently run Bada.

The Samsung Wave 3, the Bada flagship phone sports a market-leading 4″ Super AMOLED display, a zippy 1.4Ghz processor and HSPA+ high speed connectivity, housed in a sleek 9.9mm brushed-metal enclosure. Who says budget has to be ugly? The anodized aluminum slim and solid unibody design is perfect for the style-conscious. The Wave 3 also comes with a rear 5MP autofocus camera with LED flash, and VGA front-facing camera. Connectivity wise – WIFI b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, AGPS and USB 2.0.
The Samsung Wave Yis the ultimate entry-level smartphone. With a large 3.2″ HVGA screen, the Wave Y comes in a stylish metallic hairline body finish. Comes with a 2MP rear facing camera with LED flash, AGPS, WIFI b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and USB 2.0.
Both the Wave 3 and Wave Y comes integrated with Samsung’s Social Hub and ChatON, Samsung’s mobile communications service which works across mobile platforms like Android and coming soon on iOS and BlackBerry.

Samsung Debuts a Duo Wave Smartphones – Wave 3 & Wave Y
New Wave 3 and Wave Y smartphones combine stylish design with ChatON mobile communication service
Kuala Lumpur, 28 December 2011 – Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., a leading mobile phone provider, today announced the launch of the flagship 4” chic Smartphone Wave 3, and the smart-start Wave Y.
The two devices, borne of Samsung’s heritage in innovation, are powered by Samsung’s own new bada 2.0 platform which brings together a wide variety of new capabilities including multi-tasking, Wi-Fi Direct and voice recognition. Bada 2.0 enables Smartphone users to experience advanced services such as photo and file sharing without Internet networking.
ChatON is Samsung’s proprietary mobile communication service that works across all major mobile devices like Android and available soon on iOS, and RIM. A global cross-platform communication service links all your friends and contacts instantly. Micro-communities can be set up through group chat, while a web client allows the sharing of content and conversations between mobile and PC.
