Samsung has debuted the Galaxy Tab S2 in Malaysia, the latest of its premium tablet series. With a sleek metal frame finish, it is the slimmest and lightest tablet in its class. The new tablet comes in svelte 8-inch and 9.7-inch size options, packing style and performance in a stylish package.
Designed to be a workhorse and entertainment companion on the go, the Galaxy Tab S2 comes fully pre-loaded with Microsoft Office and 100GB of OneDrive cloud storage for two years. Additionally, the 9.7-inch version is compatible with the advanced Book Cover Keyboard (sold separately) that gives you the convenience of a standard PC keyboard, with a built-in trackpad.
The design is reminiscent of the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy A series, with a premium fit and finish.
The Galaxy Tab S2 is ultra thin at just 5.6mm and weighs 392g (9.7-inch) and 272g (8-inch). The brilliant Super AMOLED display tops at 264/320PPI with a ratio perfect for consumption of digital content including e-books, webpages and newsfeeds.
The Super AMOLED display delivers 94% of natural tones and true-to-life colours (Adobe RGB gamut).
The new tablet is powered by Samsung’s own octa-core Exynos processor (quad 1.9GHZ + quad 1.3GHz) with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. There’s microSD expansion, up to 128GB.
Both devices have identical 8MP autofocus f/1.9 main camera and 2.1MP front unit. Connectivity options include WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac MIMO (2.4GHz/5GHz), WiFi Direct and Bluetooth 4.1 BLE. The tablet supports 4G LTE and takes a nano-SIM.
Despite its thin profile, Samsung has integrated a considerably big battery in both devices – 5,870mAh (9.7-inch) and 4,000mAh (8-inch).
Business users will appreciate the touch-enabled Fingerprint Scanner for quick, secure authentication. A built-in advanced security sensor gives you easy access to your personal data with a simple press of the Home key. For added protection, there’s pre-installed anti-malware in the device.
Multitasking through the familiar Pop-Up Window feature lets you be productive on the move.
It’s not all about work and productivity though. The Galaxy Tab S2 is also made for entertainment. Samsung has pre-loaded iflix, Southeast Asia’s leading video streaming service and Samsung Milk Music, a digital music streaming service designed for Samsung users.
For a limited time, Samsung is throwing in a year’s worth of iflix subscription with every purchase of the Galaxy Tab S2. iflix has over 11,000 hours of Western, Korean and Chinese movie and TV series for ultimate binge-watching.
Milk Music is free to use, but also offers a Premium version that costs RM9.99 per month. The service offers more than 150 genre-based and curated stations with a unique digital dial design.
