The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ officially go on sale in Malaysia today and Maxis has wasted no time to pitch a “one-for-one” offer to customers. It’s offering a free Galaxy S8 when you purchase a Galaxy S9 or S9+.
The special offer is available only for the Galaxy S9 64GB and Galaxy S9+ 128GB, and it’s bundled with a new MaxisONE Plan 188 and additional MaxisONE Share line of MYR48 per month.
The weird thing is the device prices are unsubsidised, so you’re really paying full retail price for the Galaxy S9 64GB (MYR3,299) and Galaxy S9+ 128GB (MYR3,999).
Prior to this offer, the original Galaxy S9 and S9+ with the MaxisONE Plan 188 looks like a strikingly better deal, if you’re not hard up for the free Galaxy S8. Plus, you don’t have the additional commitment of a Share Line.
The subsidised device prices for the Galaxy S9 64GB and Galaxy S9+ 128GB are MYR2,099 and MYR2,699 respectively.
Let’s not forget you’ll need to consider the monthly commitment of MYR188 (MOP 188) + MYR48 (Share Line) for 24 months.

To recap, a MaxisONE Plan 188 gives you 60GB of all-day data, unlimited calls and texts, and you can add up to 4 Share Lines (MYR48 per month per line). Share Lines get additional 5GB of data to be added to a Data Pool.
