This year’s Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2015 in New York is going to be a BIG difference in terms of delivery. Samsung isn’t revealing just one product, but three – the much-anticipated Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 edge+ and a mystery tablet device. The S6 edge plus will be a bigger version of the popular dual-curve edge S6 edge, but is this all it is?
When the S6 and S6 edge hit the market in March, it marked the biggest design direction change to its Galaxy portfolio. What’s surprising was that the pricier S6 edge became the more popular model of the two.
Let’s face it. the dual-curve edge is sexy. Sure, it doesn’t quite do all that much, but it’s undeniably a looker.
In this day and age of big phones and phablets though, the S6 edge’s 5.1-inch display, as gorgeous as it is, may not be sufficient for certain consumers.
Enter the S6 edge plus. Because if there’s one who can pull a bigger dual curved display off, it’s Samsung.

Earlier GSMArena leaks reveal the device dimensions being 153.3 x 76.1 x 7.9mm with a 5.7-inch QHD AMOLED display.
Internally, it looks awfully similar to the S6 edge. It will be powered by the same octa-core Samsung-made Exynos 7420, mated to a Mali-T760 GPU with 4GB RAM. If the recent AnTuTu benchmark leak is any solid indication, this baby is going to fly.
Like the S6, S6 edge and upcoming Note 5, the S6 edge plus will not have a removable battery, nor any microSD expansion. Out-of-the-box, you’ll get 32GB of storage.
You’ll find the familiar albeit impressive 16MP main shooter with OIS, as well as a 5MP wide-angle front camera.
The S6 edge plus will also get a bigger 3,000mAh battery, and will run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
Stay tuned for a first hands-on of the Galaxy S6 edge+ soon.
The Samsung Unpacked event will happen at 11.00AM (EDT) on August 13, and I’ll be bringing you up-to-the-second updates live from New York.
