Samsung goes “cheap and cheerful” with Galaxy A01

Samsung Galaxy A01

Samsung has unveiled its most affordable Galaxy A series device yet—the Galaxy A01. The entry-level smartphone features a sleek design with large Infinity Display and down-to-earth specs. At MYR449, the Galaxy A01 takes on the likes of realme, Wiko, vivo and Xiaomi. Can it make a dent in the budget universe?

The cheap and cheerful device packs a 5.7-inch HD+ Infinity-V Display (720×1520), housed in a slender body with a matte finish. It is offered in three colours: Blue, Black and Red.

Under the hood, the Galaxy A01 is powered by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage (expandable to 512GB via microSD).

Keeping it juiced is a 3,000mAh battery that charges via micro-USB. The dual-SIM device boasts a triple card slot and also features a 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone uses Face Unlock for authentication.

While it only offers a single-firing speaker, it supports Dolby Atmos support.

In the camera department, the phone comes with a 13MP f/2.2 main camera paired with a 2MP f/2.4 depth camera. On the front is a 5MP f/2.2 selfie shooter.

It runs One UI on top of Android 10.
