Realme’s 5G flagship smartphone—the realme X50 Pro has landed in Malaysia. The mobile powerhouse boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 5G processor, 65W SuperDart Flash Charge and a 90Hz Super AMOLED display. The device goes on sale starting 7 July 2020.

Pricing and availability

The realme X50 Pro 5G is available in Moss Green and Rust Red and retails for MYR2,999. The Moss Green variant will go on sale on Lazada on 7 July 2020, while the Rust Red variant will hit nationwide retail channels on 11 July 2020.

Features and specs

Following the introduction of wallet-friendly realme C11 and value-packed realme 6 series, the realme X50 Pro represents the best-of-the-best for the young upstart.

Headlined by the top-of-the-line 7nm octa-core Snapdragon 865 processor, it is paired with a whopping 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage. The blazing chip top 2.84GHz and boasts an AnTuTu benchmark score of 605,327, making the realme X50 Pro the first smartphone to hit the numbers.

Realme says performance is up 25 per cent overall from the previous generation. Graphics performance is also improved by 25 per cent while energy efficiency is bettered by 30 per cent, with improved AI performance of 100 per cent.

Keeping things cool is an upgraded five-dimensional Vapor Cooling System, with a heat dissipation area of up to 1,821mm2, a increase of 339 per cent from the previous generation of heat pipes.

The phone features an advanced 360-degree antenna design and supports all of global 5G NR bands (n77/78/38/40/41/1/3/5/7/28). With Smart 5G, it can intelligently switch between 4G and 5G bands.

The realme X50 Pro packs a Samsung-sourced 6.44-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED 90Hz display (2,400×1080) with a 20:9 ratio, boasting a 92 per cent screen-to-body ratio and 1000 nits of peak brightness.

The screen supports HDR10+ and covers 100 per cent DCI-P3 and 105 per cent NTSC colour gamuts.

The device features improved in-display fingerprint recognition, with an average unlocking speed of 0.27 seconds, one of the fastest in the market.

The large 4,200mAh battery charges via USB-C and supports 65W SuperDart Flash Charge (10V/5A). It can fully-charge within 35 minutes. Even while heavy gaming, the phone can charge up 57 per cent in just 30 minutes.

It also supports 18W QC/PD charging and 30W VOOC 4.0 Flash Charge (since it shares technologies with OPPO).

Furthermore, the phone is equipped with a GaN power brick. GaN is the latest advancement in semiconductor material, which delivers outstanding charging efficiency with a smaller charge volume and less heat.

In terms of optics, the realme X50 Pro boasts a quad-camera setup on the rear comprising a 64MP f/1.8 camera (Samsung GW1 sensor), a 12MP 20x hybrid zoom telephoto lens, an 8MP ultra-wide angle macro lens, and a B&WQ portrait lens.

It comes with the latest Nightscape Model and Ultra Nightscape Mode, where users can get up to 50 seconds of super long exposures.

The front features a dual-cam setup consisting of a 32MP wide-angle camera (Sony IMX616) and an 8MP secondary ultra-wide-angle camera (105 degrees). The front cameras support HDR, Super Portrait Selfie, ultra-wide-angle video, UIS video stabilisation, slow-motion video recording (120fps), and real-time portrait bokeh video.

The realme X50 Pro runs ColorOS 7 based on Android 10.
