Previously available in limited quantities only in its homeland South Korea, the Samsung Galaxy Note Fan Edition (“Galaxy Note FE”) is in Malaysia. Malaysia is the first country outside of South Korea to receive the device.
Unlike in its home country, the Galaxy Note FE will not be a “limited run” but instead a full-fledged model in the Galaxy Note line-up. Note that this is the first time Samsung has put two Notes in a line.
It’s actually great news for Note fans, and for those who are looking for a device with a stylus.
Pre-booking of the Galaxy Note FE will commence from 18-24 October 2017.
Samsung Malaysia announced that pre-book customers will enjoy a 1-year extended warranty as well as a 1-year screen protection plan.
All customers who pre-booked can collect their devices from selected Samsung Experience Stores and Authorised Dealers from 25-31 October 2017.
For the pre-booking, the Galaxy Note FE will be available in Black Onyx only, with limited units available.
The Galaxy Note FE has an interesting history. As you may know, it’s based on the defunct Galaxy Note7 but with several key improvements.
It gets a smaller, safer battery that’s rated at 3,200mAh. The device has also gone through a stringent 8-point battery safety check to ensure durability and safety.
Otherwise, the Galaxy Note FE essentially packs the same awesome hardware the Galaxy Note7 had last year. This means the same beautiful 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with dual curve edges.
And it gets last year’s top rung Exynos 8890 processor, 4GB of RAM and generoud 64GB of storage.
In the camera department, it gets the single 12MP f/1.7 main camera and 5MP front-facing shooter.
The much-loved S Pen is standard feature of course, stored in the familiar silo underneath the device.
The IP68 dust- and water-resistant body is stunning, made of glass and metal, and available in Onyx Black and Coral Blue.
Pricing and availability
The Galaxy Note Fan Edition will be available at all authorised Samsung Experience Stores and authorised dealers starting 25 October.
It retails at MYR2,599.
The Fan Edition is a great alternative to the more expensive flagship Galaxy Note8, although it lacks the latter’s Infinity Display and brilliant dual-camera setup.
