The ASUS Malaysia Online OverClocking Challenge – Chinese New Year OC Quickie, concluded on 31 January 2014, with a total of 48 submissions from all over Malaysia. The two-week long online challenge held at Lowyat.NET forum was based on the Intel Socket 1150/1155 platform minus any cooling limitation.
The challenge utilised the Super Pi 32M benchmark, which is based on the legacy x87 instruction set, still considered the “main” OC benchmark in the overclocking scene.
Top-ranked Malaysian OverClocker Kelvin Chen (based on HWBot.org) sailed to easy victory with his two submissions – one on Air Cooling, and the other on Extreme Cooling. His choice of hardware was ROG MAXIMUS VI Extreme, Intel Core i7-4770K and G.SKILL F3-16000CL6-2GBBPID Pi Series Memory Kit.
With dry ice to keep temperatures down, Chen recorded an amazing time of 5m 28.390s @ 5.6Ghz with Super Pi 32M, making him undisputed champion of the ASUS Malaysia Online OverClocking Challenge.
Chen took home an ASUS M51AC Desktop PC worth RM2,899 for his win. Podium finishers Cham Pei Fund and Neo Vilson Wong won themselves an ASUS MX239H and VE247H Display Monitor respectively.
