OPPO Reno 10x Zoom edition zooms into Malaysia

OPPO Reno 10x Zoom

OPPO’s 10x lossless zoom technology that was introduced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona earlier this year, finally sees the light of day. The fusion of cutting-edge hardware and software engineering makes its grand entry on the flagship OPPO Reno 10x Zoom edition.

As you may be aware, the OPPO Reno series, with its trademark shark-fin pop-up camera, made a debut in Malaysia recently. Teased with the regular OPPO Reno, Malaysian consumers can now have a taste of something even better—the OPPO Reno 10x Zoom edition.

OPPO Reno 10x Zoom

The OPPO Reno 10x Zoom features a panoramic notch-less screen and a sleek body. You’ll notice an “O-dot” on the back of the phone—a ceramic bead that’s placed below the vertical array of cameras. OPPO says this is specially designed to protect the camera lenses from scratches, on flat or uneven surfaces.

The device is available in iridescent Ocean Green or understated Jet Black.

The Reno 10x Zoom edition features a larger 6.6-inch notchless Panoramic OLED screen that pushes Full HD+ resolution (1080×2340) and boasts an impressive 93.1 percent screen-to-body ratio. The 19.5:9 aspect ratio display is protected by sixth generation Gorilla Glass and also integrates an in-display fingerprint scanner.

What makes notchless display possible is the shark-fin pop-up camera that OPPO coins “Pivot Rising Camera.” Instead of a sliding mechanism ala Find X, or a vertical pop-up like the vivo NEX, Reno’s rendition is an elevating execution at an 11-degree angle.

On the Reno 10x Zoom edition, the triple-camera setup boasts a 16-160mm “full focal” length that enables 10x lossless zoom. The primary shooter is a 48MP Sony IMX586 1/2-inch sensor with an f/1.7 aperture lens, coupled with secondary 13MP f/3.0 telephoto shooter and an 8MP shooter with an f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle lens. The periscope telephoto camera is pretty impressive and may just give the Huawei P30 Pro a run for its money.

The tri-camera system offers dual OIS and can support 4K video shooting at 60fps. There’s an improved Ultra Night Mode 2.0 and Dazzle Color Mode, as well as Artistic Portrait Mode.

Under the hood, the Reno 10x Zoom edition is a different beast from the regular Reno. It’s powered by the top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, loaded with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage.

The phone runs the latest ColorOS 6.0 based on Android 9 Pie.
