Two big names unveiled new products in Malaysia last week – Motorola with their stunning Moto X and Sony Mobile with their ultrathin Xperia Z Ultra. Two former big names of the smartphone industry also have news for you too. By the way, we’re changing the name of this segment to Mobile Mondays, having overlooked that Mobile Monday is an existing global mobile open community platform. To avoid any clashes and confusion, especially in hashtags and such, we’ve made the adjustment accordingly. Apologies for the #fail.
Hello, Moto X
So will the real Google Phone please stand up? The much-hyped Moto X has officially been released in the US, and from the looks of it, it’s going to be a winner (at least in the US). Moto X features Motorola‘s new X8 Mobile Computing System with hardware integrated Google Now. The new device is insanely customisable with 18 colours and materials for its back cover, different accents for the rings around the camera. Nice one, Moto.
Sony Xperia Z Ultra – slimmest smartphone with largest Full HD display in the world
Another big name in the smartphone universe unveiled a new device last week – this time Sony Mobile brought the Xperia Z Ultra, claims to be the world’s slimmest smartphone with the largest Full HD display, to Malaysian shores. The crazy thin device is also Sony’s first ever phablet, which packs the world’s fastest processor – the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor running at 2.2Ghz. Nice. The 6.4″ Full HD TRILUMINOS display is brilliant. There’s so much more to love.
Nokia slashes Lumia 920 price
Obviously making way for the new flagship Lumia 925 coming in mid-August, the Lumia 920 received a price cut from Nokia Malaysia. Now RM1,549, the price drop also coincides with its Ramadan festive promotion. Still a stunning piece of kit, we think, although the sexy aluminium on the Lumia 925 is simply too tempting.
BlackBerry Jam Asia 2013 is coming
THE developer conference, happening in Hong Kong on 26-27 September 2013 is open for registration. It’s going to be all about BlackBerry 10 and the coming together of designers, developers, BlackBerry experts and the like. Oh, some developers may also receive a BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha C device at the event. Can you say, yum?
That’s a wrap for this week’s edition! Stay tuned to Mobile Monday #3.
