Logitech acquires Jaybird, enters wireless audio wearables market

Logitech Jaybird

Logitech has agreed to acquire Jaybird for about US$50 million in cash. This will also include additional earn-out of up to US$45 million based on achievement of goal targets over the next two years.

Jaybird is a leader in wireless audio wearables for sports and active lifestyles. Its award-winning BlueBuds X and X2 wireless buds have a strong following with the active crowd.

With both the Ultimate Ears and Jaybird brands in its portfolio, Logitech can expect long-term growth potential of its music business.

With an entry into the wireless audio wearables segment, it diversifies its product offerings and taps into the growing wearables market. Jaybird will benefit from Logitech’s global distribution network and deep engineering prowess.

Logitech does not expect the acquisition to impact its FY2017 guidance. The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close in the coming weeks.
