Several days ago, the ‘Prince of Asia’ and the face of the new Samsung Galaxy S7 edge in Korea, Lee Kwang Soo, ‘lost’ his phone. If that wasn’t a teaser enough, the popular ‘Running Man’ star decided to ‘drop in’ at the KLCC concourse for the launch of the new Galaxy S7 edge smartphone. Much to the frenzied delight of fans and shoppers alike, of course.
Host of the morning, Will Quah, himself a popular personality, kept things under control with usual wit and cool demeanour.
Lee Sang Hoon, president of Samsung Malaysia Electronics officially introduced the Galaxy S7 edge; followed by a product presentation by Lee Jui Siang, VP of mobile and IT business unit, Samsung Malaysia Electronics.
Shortly after, Kwang Soo stepped on statge.
The lanky personlity may have just stolen a little bit of the thunder from the star product of the day, but I doubt the screaming fans minded one bit. At instances, it felt more like a K-pop concert than a phone launch. Such is the extent of Kwang Soo’s superstar status.
He obliged fans with quirky poses then later for photos and autographs.
2016’s best smartphone
And just like that, Samsung’s best smartphone and, IMHO, the industry’s best smartphone, makes a debut in Malaysia.
Featuring some cutting edge tech which includes the famed 5.5-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED dual curve edge display and the world’s first 12MP Dual Pixel camera, the Galaxy S7 edge sets the benchmark of what a ‘perfect’ smartphone should be.
Impeccably built and packed with the best hardware including the world’s fastest mobile processor – Exynos 8890 chip, the Galaxy S7 edge blazes through everything you throw at it.

That includes playing the most demanding 3D games, shooting photos and videos, watch 2K videos and more.
Despite its metal and glass enclosure, it’s far from fragile. It now comes with IP68 dust- and water-resistance up to 1.5m and up to 30 minutes.
It gains microSD expansion, so if those 12MP photos and 2K videos fill up your storage, then just slot in a microSD card.
There’s plenty more to love. I list down 7 reasons here.
Customer service and support is part and parcel of smartphone ownership. And thus, Samsung has made available its support app – mySamsung – to help you personalize and maintain your Samsung device, as well as learn the latest tips.
Extending that further, Samsung introduces the Galaxy Butler Service which gives you 24/7 Premium Careline, onsite pickup and delivery, priority express counter, 1-hour repair turnaround, remote management, smart switch and 7-point device checkup.
