In just six months of launch, iflix has hit 1 million members. The leading internet TV service in Southeast Asia has grown at a rapid pace, thanks to its low monthly price and strategic collaborations.
A couple of landmark collaborations include the recent partnership with Telekom Malaysia (TM), where all TM Unifi and Streamyx customers get iflix free for 12 months. Its partnership with telco Digi delivers its service to Digi subscribers also for free (6 months), with the addition of free 1GB internet quota for streaming and telco billing.
A much-anticipated feature – “Download & Watch Offline” was rolled out recently to allow you to download shows to your device to view even without an internet connection.
iflix has a catalog of top TV shows and movies, offering over 11,000 hours of entertainment. It has agreements with over 60 of the world’s leading studios and content distributors namely Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), Disney, Warner Bros, Paramount, NBC Universal, Fox, CBS, BBC and Media Prima.
You’ll also find titles that are exclusive to iflix. This includes global breakout hits like Mr Robot (my current muse), Aquarius, Minorty Report, Black Sails and more. These shows are available for the first time in Asia, exclusively on iflix. iflix is said to be bringing in more exclusive titles in the near future.
iflix is currently available in Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines and has plans to roll out its service to additional key Southeast Asian markets in the coming months.
A subscription costs just MYR8 per month if based on a yearly plan, or just MYR10 monthly. It will allow you access to the service on up to five devices including smartphones, tablets, Mac/PC and TV sets.
