Huawei G8

As you know, Huawei’s gorgeous new flagship – the Mate S will be launching tomorrow, 27 October 2015. But it looks like that’s not all that’s going to be revealed. The mid-range Huawei G8 and top-of-the-line Mediapad M2 tablet are set to debut alongside Huawei’s best smartphone yet.

According to TheSkop, DirectD, one of the biggest gadget retailers in the country has opened pre-orders for the Huawei G8 and Mediapad M2. Both devices will retail at RM1,499 inclusive of GST.

The Huawei G8 packs some impressive specs despite its mid-range price tag. It’s powered by the mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 that also powers the OPPO R7 Series, Xiaomi’s Mi 4i and Lenovo PHAB Plus. Having mentioned the R7 series, it looks like the G8 may be taking OPPO’s sexy new line head on.

It gets a whopping 3GB RAM and 32GB of in-built storage. Need more space? There’s also microSD expansion.

With a new all-metal finish, the Huawei G8 measures 7.5mm at its thinnest. The sleek exterior that’s inspired by the Mate S houses a 5.5-inch FHD IPS display with 2.5D glass.

Like other Huawei smartphones, the camera is a key focus. The Huawei G8 packs a 13MP BSI camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS) and a large aperture 28mm wide-angle lens. The front features a 5MP unit.

Surprisingly, for a mid-range device, the Huawei G8 packs a fingerprint sensor. With new fingerprint ID tech, Huawei claims it’s accurate and fast – letting you unlock your phone in 0.5 seconds.
