Samsung has just unpacked its flagship Galaxy S9 and S9+ devices at MWC 2018 in Barcelona. The Korean smartphone giant is wasting no time bringing the duo to Malaysia, with pre-orders slated to run from 1-4 March, and general availability from 16 March onwards.
For Malaysia, only three colours will be available: Midnight Black, Coral Blue and Lilac Purple.
During the pre-order period, Samsung is offering a Harman Bluetooth speaker worth MYR699 to early birds.
Samsung is also introducing a high value trade-in, trade-up program. Details will be available soon.
The Galaxy S9 and S9+ look strikingly similar to last year’s Galaxy S8 and S8+ but offer uprated specs and refinement. It continues to feature the 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch Quad HD Infinity Displays and glass-metal bodies.
The killer feature is the variable aperture camera (dual-camera on the S9+) which looks to be the next big thing in smartphone cameras. The variable aperture camera can switch between f/1.5 for better low light performance and depth-of-field shots, or f/2.4 for outdoor photography or bright light.
Samsung also introduces Super Slow-mo mode with the new S9.
The Galaxy S9 series gets the latest Exynos 9810 or Snapdragon 845 chipset depending on region. The Galaxy S9 gets 4GB of RAM, while its bigger sibling enjoys more with 6GB of RAM.
For the first time on a Galaxy S phone, the S9 gets stereo speakers, tuned by AKG. It also gets Dolby Atmos enhancement.
Both devices retain the same 3,000mAh and 3,500mAh power units as found on their predecessors.
The Galaxy S9 series runs Android Oreo out-of-the-box.
