Gmail and Google Drive global outage: Users report intermittent connectivity issues

Google Outage

I’ve been trying to send emails since this morning but Gmail has been spewing me error messages. Google Drive is slow and experiencing connectivity issues as well. It looks like I’m not alone. Twitter is flooded with reports of Gmail and Google Drive issues, aptly hashtagged #GoogleDown #GoogleOutage.

According to this outage map, there has been close to 500 reports originating from the US, Malaysia, Australia,  New Zealand, Singapore and 22 more countries.

Reports trickled in starting from around 9AM (MYT) this morning. Close to half of users experienced total unavailability of services, with other experiencing inaccessible websites, login issues and others.

All non-Google related services and websites seem to be working fine.

Google acknowledged the issues and said, “We’re investigating reports of an issue with Gmail. We will provide more information shortly. The affected users are able to access Gmail, but are seeing error messages, high latency, and/or other unexpected behaviour.”

Gooogle confirmed that Google Drive is affected with users “seeing error messages, high latency, and/or other unexpected behaviour.”

The company has not confirmed the cause of the outages or if they will be resolved  soon.

Some users have a solution though:
