After a week-long pre-order that ended on 20 April, the ZTE Blade V8 officially hits retail stores today. Retailing at just MYR999, it’s one of the cheapest dual-camera smartphones you can buy right now.
Its killer feature is undoubtedly the dual-camera setup. Utilising a 13MP f/2.0 Sony IMX258 sensor coupled with a 2MP depth-sensing unit, does a couple of fancy things.
Firstly, it will give you the ability to control depth of field of your shot, and also do post-shot refocus. This will give you some enticing, “bokehlicious” shots.
Next, you’ll be able to shoot 3D photos that’s viewable on VR headsets.
The front-facing shooter isn’t shabby either – a 13MP shooter with built-in beautification features.
The mid-ranger sports a 5.2-inch Full HD IPS display, encased in an all-metal body. Under the hood lies an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor mated to 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of onboard storage.
It uses a hybrid dual-SIM tray, that will enable you to plug in a microSD card for storage expansion (at the expense of one SIM).
The cool thing about the Blade V8 packaging is that it doubles up as a pair of VR goggles. Slide in the Blade V8 and you’re all ready to consumer VR content. Coincidentally, ZTE has bundled a VR app with the Blade V8 – GoVR.
Check out what’s in the box here.
The Blade V8 comes with a 2,750mAh battery that charges via USB Type-C. Unfortunately, there’s no fast charging support.
It runs Android 7.0 Nougat, with the latest MiFavor UI 4.2 on top.
