[CES 2016] Acer Aspire V Nitro Black Edition gaming notebook gets Intel RealSense

Acer Aspire V Nitro 15

It’s CES 2016 week! Fresh from Las Vegas, Acer has announced an update to its top-of-the-line “Black Edition” Aspire V Nitro notebooks. The device is the world’s first gaming notebook to feature the latest Intel RealSense short range camera. The camera will deliver enhanced 2D and 3D image quality and a new dimension to the gaming experience.

The Aspire V Nitro Black Edition notebooks come in 15-inch and 17-inch variants. Now with Intel RealSense Camera, it offers an improved sensing range of up to 1.5m. The camera also offers precise gesture tracking, control and object recognition.

The camera also works great with Windows 10, enabling silky smooth Windows Hello biometric authentication.

With the Intel RealSense Camera, you can use it as a 3D scanner. Simply scan an object with the 3D camera and save it to the notebook. The 3D model can be used as a photo, or be altered to be output on a 3D printer. Neat.

Acer took a no-holds barred approach with the V Nitro series. You can read my hands-on first impressions of the device (previous version sans Intel RealSense) here. The purposeful notebook packs serious computing power—powered by the 6th Gen Intel Core processors, NVIDIA GeForce GTX960M graphics with up to 4GB of GDDR5 video RAM and lightning fast NVMe PCIe SSDs.

The V Nitro doesn’t skimp on other areas either. Like the previous version, the latest V Nitro series also have the neat-cut corner design and breakthrough slot-antenna design. Discretely position on one corner of the display, wireless coverage is a reassuring 360-degrees, without dead zones.

A trend in its notebook range is great immersive audio. Acer TrueHarmony Plus with Dolby Audio technology works with four built-in speakers to deliver outstanding audio performance.

Additionally, the “Black Edition” include a distinctive light bar alongside the hinge, 4K 100% Adobe RGB options and AeroBlade thermal exhausts—the world’s thinnest metallic blades (0.1mm thin).

Pricing and availability

Acer has gone on record to say that the latest V Nitro series will be coming to Malaysia soon. Stay tuned for availability and pricing.
