BlackBerry Spreads BBM Love to Android Gingerbread

It’s sad but 21% of the global Android user base still run old Gingerbread (so does my trusty old Nexus One). Yes, in 2014. The good news is that BlackBerry has chosen not to alienate these Android users and has specially released BBM for Android Gingerbread.


With the release, Gingerbread users can connect with other BBM users securely on BlackBerry, iOS (iPhone) and Android.

BlackBerry first released BBM for Android and iOS in October 2013. It raked in 10 million worth of downloads in the first 24 hours. There are over 60 million monthly active BBM users to date.
