BlackBerry has pushed an OTA update to BlackBerry Z10, Q10 and Q5 users in some markets. Before you click ‘update’, listen up. The 137MB v10.1.0.4181 update has been reported to cause a plethora of problems for users.

The BlackBerry Malaysia Community on Facebook highlighted the problematic update yesterday, and pointed to a Crackberry forum thread.

The update has caused some serious problems for users including loss of SMS text messages, inability to make calls, email synching issues, inability to share on social networks and even bricked BlackBerry 10 devices.

The update has appeared on my Q10 (SQN100-3), currently running the 10.1.0.2309 version. I’m tempted to update and install any way, but not before properly backing up the device.

Some luckier users who updated however commented that battery life is phenomenal, and also praised the WiFi calling app bundled with the update.

So, should I install the update and report?
