We received a press invite last week to a BlackBerry event set for September 18, 2013. This points to the expected global launch of the much-anticipated BlackBerry Messenger app for iOS and Android platforms. If we’re lucky, we may catch a glimpse of the rumoured 5-inch Z30 (also known as A10) smartphone.
The APK for the BBM app for Android was leaked online recently, allowing users to install the app on Android devices early. The caveat, since BBM uses BlackBerry’s dedicated BBM network, you can’t actually use BBM services yet until it is officially enabled.
A video showcasing BBM for Android was leaked a little while back.
The BBM for iOS version was submitted to the App Store a couple of weeks ago according to reports.
Apparently not all features will come to iOS and Android, keeping some exclusivity to its own BlackBerry handsets.
Are you excited about BBM coming to iOS and Android finally?
