After a bungled launch a couple of weeks ago, BlackBerry has come back with a vengeance with the relaunch of its famed BlackBerry MessengerBBM for Android and iPhone raking in over 10 million downloads in the first 24 hours.

The free mobile social app is a free download from the Apple App Store and Google Play.

BBM for iPhone skyrocketed to the number one spot in free app rankings in more than 75 countries including US, Canada, UK, Indonesia and most of the Middle East.

Use ratings in both App Store and Google Play have been encouraging as well, with over 60,000 five-star reviews from about 87,000. However, there has been reports that some of these reviews are ‘fake-reviews’ although no fault of BlackBerry.

BBM has over 60 million monthly active customers to date. The impressive opening of the platform to Android and iPhone should see BBM adoption increase even more rapidly. BBM users collectively send more than 10 billion messages per day.
