Malaysians can finally breathe a sigh of relief as Apple has announced the launch of the iTunes Store in Malaysia, together with eleven other countries in Asia. No longer will we feel like Apple third-rate citizens with the coming of localized content in addition to international music from all major labels and thousands of independent labels.

iTunes in the Cloud lets you download your previously purchased iTunes music to all your iOS devices at no additional cost, and new music purchases can be downloaded automatically to all your devices. In addition, music not purchased from the iTunes Store can gain the same benefits by using iTunes Match, which stores your entire music library in iCloud for access at any time, from any iOS device. iTunes Match is available for purchase in the new countries added today.

iTunes 10.6.3 for Mac and Windows includes the iTunes Store and is available as a free download from apple.com/asia/itunes. iTunes Store purchases require a valid credit card with a billing address in country.

It’s a welcome move from Apple to get iTunes content to even more users. Malaysians, like me, have had to resort to setting up a US-based account to access to the rich selection of content not available with a local account. Coupled with the fact that the selection of content (especially podcasts) is limited.

Get that credit card ready, guys. Let’s go shopping!
