The silence is deafening. Here’s talking about you, Motorola. It’s been a while since we’ve heard of the iconic brand, which seems to play a “now you see me, now you don’t” game in Malaysia. But hey, it’s a new year, and the brand’s ready to start afresh, along with your unrealistic new year resolutions. Partnering Shopee, Motorola is bringing its Android One-powered motorola one to local shores. Offered in a single configuration, the new moto goes for MYR799.
The motorola one is the newest addition to the Motorola line-up and is one of the latest Android One phones.
Android One promises a pure stock Android experience, AI-powered innovations and timely software and security updates. Motorola promises three years’ worth of security updates. Out-of-the-box, the motorola one runs Android 8.1 Oreo but will be amongst to get Android 9 Pie when it launches.
The motorola one sports a 5.9-inch HD+ 19:9 Max Vision display and is powered by the Qualcom Snapdragon 625 2.0GHz octa-core processor. It comes with 4GB RAM + 64GB of storage, as well as microSD expansion if you need more storage.
The phone body is made out of precision-crafted glass and what’s cool is the fingerprint sensor on the back is built into the Motorola logo. It offers splash resistance, and weighs 162g.
In terms of optics, the device packs a 13MP f/2.0 + 2MP f/2.4 dual-camera system with autofocus and a single LED flash. For seflies, there’s an 8MP f/2.2 front shooter with single flash.
Unsurprisingly, the phone offers Dolby Audio with single down-firing speakers.
It comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack and two microphones.
Battery-wise, the device packs a 3,000mAh battery that supports 15W TurboPower, and it charges up via USB Type-C. Motorola claims you can get 6 hours of use from just 20 minutes of charging.
The Android One universe is packed with feature-packed devices and within the price range, the motorola one has the Xiaomi Mi A2 and Nokia 5.1 Plus to contend with, both solid phones as well.
