AMD and Firaxis Games has joined hands to celebrate the release of Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth, which features day-one support for AMD’s Mantle graphics API, to deliver top-notch gaming performance for AMD Radeon graphics customers.

Mantle announced last year together with the new R9 and R7 Series GPUs, is a “low-overhead” graphics API that makes more optimum use of multi-core CPUs, streamlining game code execution, virtually eliminating software bottlenecks and utilising GPU resources with incredibly efficiency. This translates to outstanding performance for gamers with AMD Radeon hardware.

In internal performance testing, the AMD Radeon R9 290X GPU with Mantle rendered Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth at higher frame rates than any other single-GPU graphics card in the market. The tests were done at 3840×2160 resolution using Ultra in-game preset with 8xAA. The test system was Intel Core i7-based with 16GB DDR3 RAM and running Windows 8.1 x64.

Pricing for AMD Radeon R9 or R7 Series GPU start at US$99.00.

Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth is a new science-fiction-themed entry into the award-winning Civilization series. Set in the future, global events have destabilized the world leading to a collapse of modern society, a new world order and an uncertain future for humanity. As the human race struggles to recover, the re-developed nations focus their resources on deep space travel to chart a new beginning for mankind.

Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth retails for RM119.00 (US$49.99). Get your copy from Steam, retailers like Amazon.
