In the busy city centre, getting a ride or even driving can prove to be difficult and quite a hassle. But a startup in Pasadena, California may have a solution.
URBAN626, a startup company based in Pasadena has launched a rethink of the scooter albeit a more eco-friendly alternative. And it can also help you with your 21st century gizmos.
The company recently launched a new line of electric scooters called the URB-E, that weighs in around 13.6kg to 16kg. Also, it has a range of up to 32km with a possible top speed of just 29kmph. That plenty of speed to whiz you around the hustle and bustle of the city centre.
The URB-E has a folding mechanism which makes it easier to carry it around, comes with a variety of accessories and is currently made in the U.S. In the States, one of these electronic scooters is priced from just USD899 (MYR3,797).
The price may be hard to justify for some, but hear me out. The URB-E comes with multiple charging ports for your devices like smartphones and tablets. That is of course optional and comes directly from URBAN626. So, with that, you also get a smartphone mount as well as a built-in USB port for charging purposes.
There are a few versions of the URB-E, each with different battery range. The URB-E Sport and Sport GT can give you a range of 26km and then comes the Pro and Pro GT which can give you a total range of 32km before having to recharge it again.
The URB-E’s battery can also double as a charger for your laptops. URBAN626 claims that 46 charges for your iPhone and 7 charges for your average laptop can be achieved from a fully charged URB-E battery.
The battery comes with USB Type-A ports, USB Type-C ports as well as a regular 120V wall outlet for charging other devices.
Another add-on for your URB-E a shopping basket (perfect for your morning market trips). As said earlier, URBAN626 offers a few versions of the URB-E.
URB-E Lineup
The base Sport for USD899 (MYR3,797) and the Sport GT for USD1,099 (MYR4,642). The difference here? Better suspension on the latter, giving better ride comfort throughout. Then comes the Pro which is priced at USD1,699 (MYR7,177) and the Pro GT, yours for USD1,999 (MYR8,443).
The difference between the Pro and Pro GT models are that both Pro models are heavier by 5lbs (2.2kg) and can travel faster and further than the Sport models. Also, both Pro models have improved suspension and acceleration which gives it a better ride overall.
