Sony has launched its all-new compact, ultra-robust “GoPro” killer–the RX0 in Malaysia. It’s a “new type of camera” that packs high-end photo and video capabilities into a tiny ultra durable body.
Now, what do you get with the RX0? The first thing you’ll notice is the extremely compact size of the actual RX0 itself. It’s about the same size as the current GoPro cameras. The RX0 is designed to give creative photographic and videographic experiences for the users.
Speaking of pictures and videos, the RX0 can be used in many different situations such as immersive pictures, videos, slow motion footage all from a variety of different perspectives. So, feel free to take it anywhere for your enjoyment.
The RX0 only weighs at just 110 grams making it super light and easy to carry around. It measures at just 59mm x 40.5mm x 29.8mm (W x H x D). It can be used as a standalone camera for your picture taking andvideography all in different scenarios such as using it in the rain, underwater or even in sandy environments.
In addition to regular picture taking, the RX0 multi-camera shooting feature allows a new way of imaging opportunities and can be organised in a number of different ways. Using Sony’s wireless radio commander (FA-WRC1M), it can trigger up to 15 Sony RX0’s for a multiple scope imaging opportunity.
The RX0 comes with an advanced 1.0-type stacked with a 15.3MP Exmor RS CMOS image sensor, a BIONZ X processor and a wide-angle ZEISS Tessar T* 24mm F4.0 aperture fixed lens. It can deliver high resolution pictures and less distortion results for both RAW and JPEG frames as well as across all video formats.
It also features an Anti-Distortion Shutter of up to 1/32000 seconds and can shoot up to 16 fps, meaning that even fast moving objects can be accurately rendered.
The RX0 is also IPX8 waterproof at depths of up to 10 metres and when used with the new MPK-HSR1 Housing, can be taken to an even deeper depth of 100 metres. Is it also shockproof to MIL-STD810G C1 Method516.7-Shock standard: will survive drops from up to 2 metres and crushproof to 200kgf/2000N. Built like a tank, it’s durable enough to withstand shooting in difficult situations where normal cameras would either struggle or cannot go
As for videos, the RX0 can shoot up to 1000 fps, making the most normal shots seem more vivid and beautiful. For production flexibility, users can use the 4K clean HDMI output to record uncompressed video to an external recorder. Using both MF Assist and Peaking Functions, the focus of the
RX0 can be adjusted to the users preference. Picture Profile options and S-Log2 offer creative freedom to deliver the result in which you wish to see. Time Code/User Bit features provide an essential tool for multi-camera shoots in particular, making the editing process much faster and Preset Focus options are also added for easier control of the camera shooting.
The built in battery gives it enough juice for 240 still shots or 35 mins of movie shooting, or up to 60 minutes of continuous movie shooting.
Accessories for the RX0 include:
