[UPDATE] Samsung Pay is now officially live in Malaysia. As part of the grand launch, Samsung is inviting shoppers and Samsung fans to the Samsung Pay roadshow from 24-28 February 2017 to take advantage of treats and rewards from participating merchants. The fantastic news is that aside from Maybank cards, Samsung Pay now also supports Citibank, CIMB Bank and Standard Chartered together with major payment networks Mastercard and Visa.

As you know, Maybank was the first bank to support Samsung’s mobile wallet solution in December last year. The initial rollout had the support of over 30 merchants including Starbucks, Family Mart, Marks & Spencer, Watson’s and Krispy Kreme.

Samsung Pay’s reach is now wider with the addition of more banks and merchants joining the fray. Hong Leong Bank will also be coming on board soon. According to Samsung, over 90% of merchants ranging from F&B outlets, fashion and lifestyle retailers, and supermarkets and departmental stores have adopted Samsung Pay.

In a nutshell, Samsung Pay is a secure and easy-to-use mobile payment service that enables you to make purchases almost anywhere via your supported Galaxy smartphone. It supports credit, debit and prepaid cards.

Current supported cards are Mastercard and Visa cards. For CIMB (Mastercard), Citibank (Mastercard/Visa) and Standard Chartered banks(Mastercard and Visa), only credit cards are supported for now. Only Maybank offers the full array of credit, debit and prepaid cards.

To make a payment once you’ve added your cards to Samsung Pay, simply swipe up on your Galaxy phone, scan your fingerprint to authenticate and pay.

There great thing about Samsung Pay is that it’s the only mobile wallet that can be used at NFC or MST terminals, making it the widest accepted mobile payment system out there.

And there’s more. Samsung Pay also supports loyalty cards. Current loyalty card partners include B Infinite, Bonuslink and Sunway Pals.

Now that things are rolling out in full force, Samsung wants you to experience the future of mobile payment. Samsung Pay bank partners are offering some exclusive giveaways, detailed below:

Citibank – From 24 February until 25 March 2017, Citibank is giving away one Gear S3 and 25 Sakae Sushi e-vouchers worth MYR20 daily, to the highest number of transactions using Samsung Pay daily. Pay and win!

Maybank – Maybank is giving away 50 units of the latest Galaxy S series smartphone to the highest Maybank card spender using Samsung Pay. A minimum transaction of MYR50 during the roadshow until 31 May 2017 entitles you to an entry. A cumulative spend of MYR1,000 gets you an extra 100 bonus entries for even more chances of winning. Additionally, Maybank cardholders can enjoy MYR10 off next purchase voucher with a minimum spend of MYR30 for purchases at Watson’s, at the roadshow. 

Standard Chartered – Standard Chartered cardholders enjoy 20% cashback for payments made with the bank’s cards on Samsung Pay. Just link your cards to your Samsung device to receive up to MYR100 of cashback per customer. Also, enjoy 30% discount on selected items at GNC during the roadshow.
