The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS 2016) kicks off today at Cobo Centre, Detroit. One of the key highlights is the crowing of the North American Car of the Year and Truck/Utility of the Year happening today, 11 January 2016.
The North American Car of the Year finalists for 2016 are the Honda Civic; the Chevrolet Malibu; and the Mazda MX-5 Miata.
On the other hand, finalists for the 2016 North American Truck/Utility of the Year are the Honda Pilot; the Nissan Titan XD; and the Volvo XC90.
The NACTOY awards are decided by a jury of 53 automotive journalists from the US and Canada.
The judging panel votes for the vehicles that set new benchmarks in innovation, design, safety, handling, driver satisfaction and value.
The panel voted early in December, with ballots sent directly to Deloitte.
Winners will be revealed during a news conference at the 2016 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit.
Last year’s winners were the Volkswagen Golf and the Ford F-150.
