Xiaomi‘s Mi Fan Festival 2015, the huge online party to celebrate the brand’s 5th birthday ended with a record-breaking high, recording the best-ever single-day online sales performance. A whopping 2.12 million phones were sold, with a total revenue of RMB2.08 billion (RM1.23 billion) over 12 hours.
Mi Fan Festival 2015 was held concurrently in seven markets, and for the first time ever — Malaysia, India and Indonesia joined in too.
Xiaomi also sold over 38,000 MiTVs, over 770,000 smart appliances including 200,000 Mi Bands and 247,000 Mi Power Strips. Revenue from accessories alone hit a staggering RMB190 million (RM112 million) after 12 hours. In total, there were 3.05 million orders made online.
It wasn’t just about online orders. The China startup also demonstrated its commitment to fast delivery, with 500,000 orders shipped in 12 hours. The first order reached a customer at 11.27am, just 1 hour and 27 minutes into the scale.
The feat beat its own record last year for total number of phones sold and total revenue during Singles Day 2014. Halfway through the sale at 4.04pm, numbers already surpassed the full-day results of both Mi Fan Festival 2014 and Singles Day 2014.
Xiaomi only sells its products online, proving the success of its e-commerce only model.
The fast-rising brand sold 61.12 million smartphones last year, with a total revenue of RMB74.3 billion (RM43.8 billion). Xiaomi was the top smartphone vendor in China last year (IDC data: 2014), and is expected to continue its momentum in 2015.
