It’s official: Apple transitions to ARM-based silicon

Mark this date: 23 June 2020. In one of four seismic shifts in its colourful history, Apple announced at Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC20) that it will transition the Mac to its own ARM-based silicon. The first Mac with Apple silicon is expected to ship out by end of the year and Apple has quoted a two-year timeline for a full transition. Apple still has new Intel-based Macs in development.

Apple WWDC 2020: Online-only developer conference starts 22 June

Apple’s annual Worldwide Developer Conference is all set for 22 June 2020. For the first time ever, the big event will be held online only, amid concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic. WWDC20 will be free for all developers globally via the developer website and mobile app.

In wake of the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, the full WWDC programme including the keynote and sessions will be delivered exclusively online, accessible to its entire developer community across the world.
