Canon EOS-1D X Mark II ‘King of EOS’ marks its supremacy in Malaysia

Canon EOS-1D X Mark II

Canon Malaysia has unveiled its flagship professional EOS DSLR in Malaysia – the EOS-1D X Mark II. Made for the pros, it sets a new benchmark for speed and autofocus, with enhanced resolution and expanded ISO speeds.

The EOS-1D X Mark II is made for speed and precision – the perfect weapon for journalism, sports and wildlife photography.

The new flagship camera features a newly-developed 35mm full frame CMOS sensor pushing 20.2MP, Dual DIGIC 6+ image processors and impressive expanded ISO speeds of up to 409,600.

Autofocus is the 1D X Mark II’s turf. With a new 360,000 pixel RGB + IR metering sensor and EOS iTR AF system, it sets a new standard in tracking precision.

It now has a 61-point, 21 cross-type autofocus, all individually selectable. Its predecessor only had 1 cross-type point.

Talking about speed, the ID X Mark II fires 14fps of continuous shots with full AF. Using AE Max in Live View mode, it hits a mindblowing 16fps. This is in RAW format, with a 170-shot buffer sealing. In JPEG, continuous shooting is limited only by CF storage. Impressive.

In terms of video shooting, the 1D X Mark II can shoot 4K video up to 50/60p (limited to 29min 59secs) and Full HD up to 100/120p. With the 4K resolution, you can capture an 8MP still from video footage.

Next, the addition of the Dual Pixel CMOS AF (DAF) means when you utilize phase-detection in Live View mode, you’ll benefit from super fast aut-focusing and precise tracking of moving subjects. DAF is a first in the 1D-series of cameras.

The camera supports legacy CF cards and new CFast cards (they read/write at SSD speeds) via its CF and CFast card slots.

In terms of connectivity, it comes with Wi-Fi, and now GPS. File transfer is easy, via Wireless File Transmitter (WFT-E8D), available as an option.

Exterior-wise, the 1D X Mark II is built for endurance and durability. The robust magnesium alloy body is dust and drip-proof, perfect for the outdoors.

Shutter life is claimed to be 400,000 cycles, thanks to redesigned mirror and shutter mechanisms.

The camera also has better ergonomics, with grip and button operations now more comfortable for photographers of varying hand sizes.
