Xiaomi continues to churn out devices like there’s no tomorrow. Today in its homeland China, it unleashed a couple of devices including the mid-range Redmi 6 Pro and the long-awaited Mi Pad 4.
The Redmi 6 Pro treads along ASUS’ ZenFone Max Pro, honor 9 Lite and Huawei’s nova 2 Lite territory packing a familiar metal body and a vertical dual-camera array.
On the front is a 5.84-inch Full HD+ display based on a 19:9 screen aspect ratio, with a notch that houses the front speaker and selfie shooter.
Under the hood, it’s powered by the dependable but old 14nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor mated to up to 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB of onboard storage.
The dual-SIM device features a triple tray slot that can house two nano-SIM cards and a microSD card.
Camera-wise it sports a 12MP + 5MP dual-camera setup with large 1.25 micron pixels for enhanced low light performance.
The front camera is an 8MP shooter which comes with AI Portrait Mode, AI Beauty and automatic HDR.
The front camera enables Face Unlock, which complements the fast fingerprint sensor that’s mounted on the back.
Battery life should be top notch thanks to the large 4,000mAh cell that charges up via USB Type-C.
The Redmi 6 Pro runs MIUI 9 based on Android Oreo.
