VIVO was a surprise at the Mobile World Congress earlier this year, debuting the first under-display fingerprint technology with its VIVO X20 Plus UD. It wasn’t long before a more improved successor made an appearance – VIVO X21. The device quickly become a best-seller in its domestic market, superseding not just the VIVO X20 but also the Huawei Mate 10.
The China maker introduced a special Black Gold edition on 19 April, and it is now available on sale officially. The standard X21 is priced at CNY3,298 (MYR2,041), while the UD (under-display fingerprint) model costs slightly more at CNY3,698 (MYR2,288).
Aside from the luxurious touches to the exterior, the special edition runs the same specs as the standard X21. It sports a large 6.28-inch FHD+ display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chip paired with 6GB of RAM with either 64GB or 128GB of storage.
In the optics department, the device carries a dual-camera setup on the rear – 12MP f/1.8 + 5MP f/2.4, while the front gets a 12MP f/2.0 selfie snapper. The selfie shooter is integrated with an IR fill light to allow for fast Face Wake 2.0 with 3D mapping.
It comes with a built-in 3,200mAh battery that supports fast charging.
The device runs Funtouch OS 4.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo.
