The All-New Lexus IS250. I want.

Words cannot describe how much I desire this car. The specs is enough to make me cream. And the styling. Ah… top class.

The new Lexus IS250 features an all-new direct injection 2.5-litre V6 lump, which is aided by Dual VVT-i – variable air-fuel intake and exhaust valve timing system. All this contributes to a power output of 204bhp at 6,400rpm and 252Nm of torque at 4,800rpm. This may not seem impressive as compared to the 210bhp IS200 Altezza, but being a 6-cylinder in-vee engine, performance should be progressive and silky smooth.

Some specs to dabble with:

Engine specifications
Engine type: 4GR-FSE
No. of cylinders and arrangement: V6
Valve mechanism: 24-valve DOHC with VVT-i
Bore x stroke: 83.0mm x 77.0mm

Max. torque (SAE-NET) Nm/rpm ([email protected]): 252 Nm @ 4800
Automatic transmission: Optional

Safety Systems

Impressive? Sure is! BMW 3-series, eat your heart out!

I was browsing thru Car& Driver mag way back in July/august and it listed a host of new cars. The only one that captured my attention was the new lexus IS250.

You are right to say, “You want” cause thats what I said also. Delicious looking car.

BTW, my GTi is gone and boy wat a relief. Never realised how it was a real car passion killer. Put much of it to proton ownership.

Recently I went to look at the new Honda Accord 2.4. In da past I used to think it was a very well put together car but the demo car I was shown really set me backwards.

The leather seat is half leather. The back panels are Vinyl I suppose. Looked like a MacD restaurant seat.

Some of the “wood” panels had broken off and missing eg the rear armrest, reat ashtray.

Somehow the car did not give me confidance it would last 10 years. Guess there will always be a difference between a malaysian assembled car and one thats fully imported. Mind you, I have driven many Volvo’s in UK especially the S40 variant (older model now) and when I checked out the S40 sold here (made in thailand I think), it was pretty much spot on. Quality control quite good.

Got to go. THink of what I should get as a replacement for the GTi. Peugeot 407?… mazda6?… Honda…?

Nice car, but it doesn’t exactly match up to a 3 Series E90. Seeing as the 325I has the same amount of displacement as the IS250, horsepower figures differentiate with the E90 with 215hp and the IS with 204.

0-100kmph sector times with the E90 is 7.7 seconds and the IS clocking in at over 8 seconds. The only true contender here is the 250’s big brother the 306hp IS350 which clocks a 0-100 time of 5.9 seconds.

All in all I have to say the new Lexus does have more attractive lines if compared to the E90. Bravo
