The budget monitor segment is no longer the same cosmetically-challenged, plasticky-built, I-bought-because-I-have-no-money-type gear. At least not if HP can help it. Because however you look at it, the HP 23es 23-inch monitor is stunning – from its impressive edge-to-edge, bezel-less design to its baffling side profile. It is in fact, HP’s thinnest LCD yet. And guess what, it costs under MYR700/US$151. OK, close that mouth.1257 0
According to a recent market report by research firm IDC, Samsung Electronics has secured its position as the market leader in monitors for the fifth consecutive year, a feat it has achieved since the third quarter of 2006. Samsung took 15.5 percent of the global monitor market in the third quarter 2011. Samsung saw its sales jump more than 10 percent compared to the second quarter, successfully shipping close to 6.5 million units.
The world has seen a drastic shift of display technologies from LCD to LED. LED monitors sales jumped by 26 percent in the third quarter. Samsung shipped 3.49 million premium LED monitors, accounting for over 25 percent of the overall monitor market. One in every four LED monitors sold in the world is a Samsung monitor. Quite an accomplishment, indeed.
