[Tested] Casio Exilim EX-ZR20: High Speed Night Shots

Casio-Exilim-EX-ZR20-HSNS-comparison2

The Casio Exilim EX-ZR20 compact camera is certainly one that can be described as talented, and versatile. Powered by a 16.1MP high-sensitivity CMOS sensor supporting 8x optical zoom (16x multi-frame SR zoom), where this CSC really excels is in low-light conditions where many other compact cameras fail. While you may like the camera for its fancy shmancy filters and plethora of modes, we think High Speed Night Shot mode is where it truly impresses.

Writer for Vernonchan.com, Fidelis Moses was on location at Marakesh recently to test out the camera. These are some shots taken and compared between High Speed Night Shot mode and Auto/Premium Auto modes (HSNS on the left).

Notice better exposure, sharpness and clarity. Normal auto mode tends to be less lighted and sometimes blurry. Even in almost complete darkness, the EX-ZR20 impresses. Almost mind-boggling at times.

If there was one killer feature of this compact camera, it has to be High Speed Night Shot.

Casio-Exilim-Misc 6

My trusty super compact Casio Exilim EX-ZR20 camera is something I carry around all the time now being super pocketable and light, with performance to boot. I can guarantee you will be impressed with its speed and low-light prowess. Continuing the multi-part impressions series, I’ve collected some imagery at HK Station, Sungai Wang using various art filters. Instagram eat your heart out.

[Impressions] Casio Exilim EX-ZR20 goes Pop!

Casio Exilim EX-ZR20 Pop comparo

It wasn’t too long ago that I acquired a super compact Casio Exilim EX-ZR20 camera, and if you’ve been following some updates on this nifty companion, you would have seen some sample photos using the Miniature and Monochrome filter modes. Continuing this multi-part impressions series, I had a rare chance to roam around downtown Kuala Lumpur and went a-snapping.

The gloomy, wet evening wasn’t really a challenge as I put Premium Auto and Pop modes to the test. As you would have known from my previous impressions, I’m a fan of the Monochrome mode. Dramatic, noisy and contrasty, the mode makes normal pictures have an edgy, analog feel. Premium Auto shoots at high-res and automatically detects the best, optimum settings in terms of ISO, exposure and shutter speed for your pictures.
Pop is one of the arty filters available, and its great to bring out vibrancy, contrast and colours in photos. Have a look at the photos below, including comparisons between Premium Auto and Pop mode.
