AFF Suzuki Cup 2012: Defending Champs Malaysia Meet Laos

Harimau Malaya - K Rajagopal

Y U NO DEFEND PROPERLY? Image credit: AFF Suzuki Cup 2012

On the eve of the critical AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 clash between defending champions Malaysia and confident Laos, national coach Datuk K. Rajagopal has promised a different line-up to bounce back from the shocking 3-0 defeat to Singapore last weekend.

Harimau Malaya needs to win both their remaining Group B matches against Laos and Indonesia to stay in the running for the playoffs.

Indonesia had a close 2-2 draw with Laos in the other Group B match.

Rajagopal was quick to defend the team after the trouncing and lamented that it was “undeserved” and was due to a series of individual errors.

Malaysia find themselves in a familiar, precarious position they were in two years ago, when they were steamrolled 5-1 by Indonesia in the opening game, only to come back strongly to take the trophy later.

Here’s hoping that lightning does strike the same place twice.

Malaysia meets Laos tomorrow at 8.45pm, 28 November 2012, Bukit Jalil Stadium, Malaysia.

AFF Suzuki Cup 2012: Harimau Malaya Tamed by Lions

AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 – Malaysia vs Singapore. Image credit: Arep Kulal

It was a case of the Malaysian Tigers losing their fangs, as the visiting Lions of Singapore pounced and stunned the defending champions 3-0 at AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 Group B match. The result pushes the Harimau Malaya to the bottom of Group B, after another Group B duel between Indonesia and Laos ended in a 2-2 draw.

The Malaysian side, spearheaded by national head coach Datuk K. Rajagopal, now needs to win the next two remaining matches to stay in the competition.

The visitors proved the livelier side and certainly one with more urgency, as the Harimau Malaya failed to find its rhythm.

Defensive errors, observed also in unimpressive international friendlies recently, proved to be the undoing of the Malaysian side. Two goals by Shahril Ishak in either half, and a 75th minute header by substitute Aleksandar Duric sealed a convincing victory for the jubilant Singapore side.

Not even Khairul Fahmi’s godly hands could deny the routing.

It isn’t quite over yet, but all of us do hope that the Harimau Malaya finds its rhythm and shows its true colours, just as they did two years ago. The Malaysians lost their first game 1-5 to Indonesia, only to come back stronger and better to emerge as eventual winners of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2010.

Go, Tigers!

Nike Brings All Conditions Control (ACC) Technology Across Its Football Boots

Nike ACC Football Boots, Andres Iniesta

Come rain, come shine, come snow, footballers need consistent performance and feel. With Nike‘s All Conditions Control (ACC) technology, pro footballers and enthusiasts alike can now do just that with ACC-enhanced football boots.

ACC allows the boot’s surface to maintain the same level of friction, touch and control on the ball in wet and dry conditions. The all-weather performance benefit is possible with a special treatment on the upper materials of the boot to deliver consistent feel of the ball at all times.

Weather plays a critical role in football. A wet country like Malaysia experiences plenty of rainfall, making receiving and passing a ball tricky, even for the best players. Likewise in a country like the UK, a normal season can average 125 days of rainfall.

The need for consistent touch and feel in wet weather is critical, and this insight is shared amongst many footballers including FC Barcelona‘s Andres Iniesta.

Nike boots combine the latest design innovation and performance, with boots for each style of play. All Conditions Control (ACC) is now available across all Nike boots including Mercurial Vapor VIII, Tiempo Legend IV, CTR360 Maestri III and Total 90 Laser IV.

[AFG_gallery id=’40’]

TOTAL 90 LASER IV
The ultimate strikers boot for capitalizing on that one moment to turn a game. Featuring a streamlined silhouette for enhanced fit and feel , while reconfigured shoot and swerve zones on the instep of the boot flex naturally as the foot connects with the ball, enhancing a cleaner strike. Remodeled studs maximize traction without increasing stud pressure for players.

 [AFG_gallery id=’41’]

TIEMPO LEGEND IV

NIKE GS FOOTBALL BOOT COMBINES PERFORMANCE ENGINEERING WITH LOW ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

Nike’s lightest, fastest and greenest production boot ever

MALAYSIA JULY 12TH 2012 – Nike has unveiled a new football boot to be worn this summer that is the lightest, fastest production boot Nike has ever made, and the most environmentally friendly boot available.

Designers were challenged to create a new football boot stripped down to include only the essential elements that deliver lightweight performance and high speed control in game situations. The result is the Nike GS, constructed using renewable and recycled materials and designed for explosive performance on the pitch and lower impact on the planet.

Every component of the Nike GS has been optimized to reduce weight and waste, creating Nike’s lightest football boot ever at 160 grams for a size 9.

Conceived and engineered in Italy, the Nike GS features recycled and renewable materials throughout the upper and plate design. A bio-based traction plate made primarily from castor beans ensures strength and flexibility on pitch alongside a sock liner made from 100% castor beans. The boot laces, lining and tongue are made from a minimum of 70% recycled materials. The toeboard and collar, feature at least 15% recycled materials.

“The Nike GS is the lightest and fastest football boot we’ve ever made and really defines a new era in how we create, design and produce elite football boots,” said Andy Caine, global design director for Nike Football. “When you can deliver a boot that combines high end performance and a low environmental footprint that’s a winning proposition for players and planet.”

Nike GS includes the following performance, recycled and renewable materials in the new boot:

Traction Plate & Stud Configuration:

Nike GS traction plate combines a high performance chassis with a strong responsive and agile form.  The sole plate is made of 50% renewable Pebax® Renu (a plant derived material made with 97% castor beans) and 50% TPU, made from 32% renewable materials. The plate is 15% lighter than a traditional plate composition.

The traction plate includes a minimalist diamond-silhouette spine, which provides optimal flex and agility in plate performance.

Anatomically positioned studs maximize speed in multiple directions to ensure responsive and assured movement on pitch.

Touch & Control:

A solvent-free Kanga-Lite synthetic upper provides zonal reinforcement for exceptional touch and control. The synthetic upper also supports lockdown on midfoot and arch area.

The lightweight and chemical-free sock liner is made of 100% castor beans and eliminates any layers for a snug fit and enhanced touch on the ball.

Stability & Support:

Anatomical and asymmetrical heel counter and heel bucket locks the foot down for stability and support. The counter is made of Pebax® Renu, derived from castor bean oil.
