Wiko Sunny2 Plus is cheap, cheerful and runs Android Nougat, for under MYR300

French smartphone maker Wiko has been pretty quiet of late, after the big debut of the full-screen View. It’s back to bring some sunshine though, with the colourful Sunny2 Plus. The Sunny2 Plus boasts a 5-inch HD screen, and comes in five colourful metallic shades: Black, Gold, Silver, Belen and Lime.

It’s powered by a quad-core MediaTek processor running at 1.3GHz, coupled with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of onboard storage. You’ll have the option to expand storage via microSD (up to 64GB).

The device runs 3G and supports dual-SIM (1x micro-SIM, 1x mini SIM).

The 2,000mAh battery is good for 10 hours of 3G talk time, or 333 hours of standby time.

It comes with a basic 5MP rear camera with LED flash, but surprisingly also includes Pro mode and HDR.

The 2MP selfie shooter may not be much, but you’ll still be able to shoot a wide Panorama or retouch with Face beauty on both cameras.

WIko Sunny2 Plus

The cheerful Sunny2 Plus runs Android Nougat right off the bat, with Wiko UI on top.

Pricing and availability

The Wiko Sunny2 Plus retails at MYR249 and is available at all authorised Wiko resellers nationwide.

Can cheap really be cheerful? 1GB of RAM is almost unheard of these days, but let’s not forget this baby costs under MYR300. Great as a second phone, or for someone upgrading from a feature phone. The big plus is that it runs almost the latest Android release, and you can also expect good build quality from Wiko.
