The S9 is an iPhone X knock-off

Leagoo S9

There’s being “inspired by.” And then there’s blatant ripping off another’s hardwork. For Chinese phone maker Leagoo, it’s pretty clear where things are headed. At MWC 2018, the company unveiled its S9 smartphone, sporting a very iPhone X-like design. But priced at a fraction of the fruity brand’s cost, of course.

If you love the iPhone X or the Galaxy S9, why not have both?

The Leagoo S9 lays claim as the “world’s first Android notch display smartphone.” It sports a 5.85-inch full-screen HD+ display and it comes powered by an unknown octa-core processor (most likely MediaTek). It gets a commendable 4GB of RAM, while storage is 32GB.

It supports Face Unlock and Leagoo claims it’s as fast as 0.1 seconds. There’s also a fingerprint sensor in case things go south with facial recognition.

There’s a Sony-sourced 13MP + 2MP rear dual-camera setup, arranged vertically ala iPhone X. Meanwhile, the front gets an 8MP unit. According to Leagoo, the rear shooter can deliver 65MP Ultra HD photos.

Under the metal body is a 3,300mAH battery which charges up via USB Type-C.

Plenty of brownies for the effort but I’d like to hear what Samsung and Apple have to say about this.

And by the way, the Leagoo S9 retails at USD150/MYR450.

What do you think? Cheap iPhone X anyone?
