Petronas Syntium with CoolTech is cutting-edge engine oil for your car, bred on the F1 track

Petronas Syntium with CoolTech

We take for granted that our car engines will run smoothly and reliably every day. We don’t realise the excessive engine heat that builds up within the engine, especially in start-stop situations in traffic jams, or driving up steep inclines. Imagine this heat multiplied by many folds in a Formula One race car.

Petronas, long-standing technical partner of the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team, has been leveraging on the knowledge and insights it gains on the race tracks. It uses this data to development fluids for engines, optimised for our roads.

As you know, it’s the Formula One finale at Sepang International Circuit this weekend, so Petronas Lubricants Marketing Malaysia took the liberty to organise a meet-and-greet session with Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula Team drivers—Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas.

Often considered the best driver of his generation, Hamilton currently leads the World Drivers’ Championship with 263 points and will want a good finish at Sepang this weekend to extend his lead. Teammate Bottas on the other hand, lies in third with 212 points. Mercedes top the World Constructors’ Championship standings and look good to retain the title with several races left.

Attendees at the session heard how drivers remain competitive in every race. They also learned about Petronas Syntium with CoolTech, Petronas’ cutting-edge lubricants for modern day driving conditions.

The event was also graced by YBhg Dato’ Sri Syed Zainal Abidin, vice president, marketing, downstream business Petronas; Dato’ Mohd Ibrahimnuddin Mohd Yunus, chief executive officer and managing director of Petronas Dagangan Berhad; Mohd Khalid Mohamed Latiff, regional head, Asia Pacific, Petronas Lubricants International; and Eric Holthusen, head, group project delivery & technology, Petronas Lubricants International.

So, what makes Petronas Syntium with CoolTech, cool?

As you know, excessive engine heat results in potential damage of critical components in the engine over time, and robs the engine of performance.

Petronas Syntium with CoolTech is engineered with strong oil chains to effectively absorb and transfer excessive heat out of the engine.

Its outstanding heat dissipation capabilities help to prevent engine failure by protecting engine components from detrimental wear and tear, under high temperature.

It also delays oil thickening by resisting the oil from oxidising at high temperature. This ensures optimal lubrication to engine parts at all times.

Additionally, it fights harmful deposit build-up caused by excessive engine heat to maintain engine performance.

For a super advanced engine like the Mercedes AMG Formula One car engine, it needs a super advanced engine oil and lubricants.

This is also why Petronas commits to stay on the cutting-edge by investing in research and development. Its USD60 million technology centre in Turin, Italy is set to be completed at the end of this year. The centre will provide the technological and technical requirements of Petronas Lubricant’s businesses around the world.
