AMD Radeon RX 470 and RX 460 complete Radeon RX family

Radeon RX

Following the availability of its flagship Radeon RX 480 graphic card in Malaysia, AMD is expected to roll out its mid-range Radeon RX 470 and Radeon RX 460 this August. The Radeon RX series is built upon the new Polaris architecture–AMD’s best graphics core yet.

Radeon RX 470

Sitting below the flagship RX 480, the RX 470 brings brilliant 1080p gaming performance to the desktop. At Ultra Settings, the RX 470 outperforms previous generation’s R9 270 by up to 2.4X. Games like Battlefield 4, Doom, Fallout 4 and Hitman return commendable 60FPS gaming performance with anti-aliasing turned on.

For those interested in numbers, the RX 470 crunches up to 4.9 TFLOPS via its 32 Compute Units. Its GPU runs at a base clock speed of 926MHz, with up to 1206MHz, boosted. Memory bandwidth is 211GB/s with an effective data rate of 6.6Gbps. It comes with 4GB or 8GB of GDDR5 VRAM seated on a 256-bit memory bus.

The great thing about the RX 470 is its Polaris 10 underpinnings. This card runs cooler, quieter and draws less power compared to other cards in its class. At 120W, you’ll get efficient, quiet gaming even when running more punishing games.

The compact RX 460 is focused on delivering outstanding performance for compact desktops and portable computers. Also built on the new Polaris 11 architecture, it gives you 90+ FPS gaming at 1080p High Settings–perfect for games like CS:GO, Overwatch, DOTA 2 and e-sports.

The RX 460 outperforms the Radeon R7 260X by up to 1.3X. In notebook computer, the RX 460 performs up to 1.2X better than the GTX 960M (tested: Overwatch).

Down to specifics, the RX 460 kicks out up to 2.2 TFLOPS through its 14 compute units. Its base clock speed is 1090MHz, with up to 1200MHz in boosted mode. It has a memory size of 2GB or 4GB of GDDR5, based on a 128-bit memory bus.

Drawing less than 75W, it is highly suitable for notebook computers and compact desktops.

The Radeon RX series include future-proof technologies such as DisplayPort (1.3 HBR3, 1.4 HDR), HDMI 2.0, HDR and AMD Freesync.

Made for high-def streaming, it supports beautiful HDR movies in 10-bit HEVC format and H.264; VP9 web videos and also high-def video calling (HEVC, MJPEG).

It’s optimized for the next generation of APIs including DirectX 12 and Vulkan API.

Importantly, the Radeon RX family is VR-ready, supporting Samsung Gear VR and Oculus Rift out-of-the-box.
