Cutting-edge storage

The new PowerEdge servers bring cutting edge storage technologies and a handful of industry firsts to the plate, while addressing performance needs of IT.

Using 1.8-inch SATA flash drives, the Dell PowerEdge R630 delivers up to 2.4x the input/output operations per second (IOPS) in the same amount of space as 2.5-inch SSDs.

The PowerEdge R730xd provides up to 100TB of storage for workloads like Microsoft Exchange, delivering up to 50% increase in mailbox size over previous generation servers.

The PowerEdge R730xd also supports a higher working temperature of 40C.

The new PowerEdge servers support automated tiering, the only ones in the industry.

Direct-attached storage, for those who need more

For customers who need more storage, Dell has direct-attached storage solutions specifically developed for the new server range. The new Dell Storage MD1400 and MD1420 offer affordable storage expansion, double the bandwidth and improved perforamcend compared to the previous generation.

It also offers data security with self-encryptin-drives (SEDs) and seamless data management between the server and storage enclosure.

System management: Easier than ever

The new PowerEdge servers feature updated OpenManage system management – providing higher levels of automation and enabling system administrators to monitor and remediate datacentre situations from any mobile device.

An industry first, Dell introduces the iDRAC Quick Sync – which uses Near Field Communications (NFC) to enable administrators to easily monitor and manage server environments via their mobile device.

OpenManage introduces new levels of automation with zero-touch management automation features such as storing, accessing and deploying a Server Configuration Profile or firmware update. Zero-Touch Repository Manager and auto-updates reduce firmware updating time by up to 92%.

Open Standards

Dell’s new PowerEdge servers use open standards architecture, and supports hyper-converged infrastructure appliance platforms such as Nutanix and VMware EVO:RAIL, as well as database platforms like Oracle 12c, MySQL and Mongo DB.

Dell Windows Server 2003 Migration Service

Dell’s new Windows Server 2003 Migration Service will help businesses currently running Windows Server 2003 transition to Microsoft Azure cloud or Windows Server 2012 R2 to meet the looming July 2015 deadline for the end of Windows Server 2003 support.
