Hitachi Data Systems Corporation (HDS) unveiled last week, new solutions and services to enable enterprises to adopt cloud computing more easily, securely and reliably. The rollout of the new family of cloud services and solutions looks to meet the demands of two megatrends – cloud computing and Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD).

The two megatrends have brought an explosive growth to unstructured data, increased user expectations of accessing data at anytime, anywhere and; the security and integrity of data. HDS offerings will help customers to adopt cloud computing on the fast track while reducing capex and opex.

The consumer space has been exposed to file sync and share services for some time. Free and paid file sync and share services like Dropbox, Sendspace, Google Drive and Microsoft’s SkyDrive have become ubiquitous with consumers.

The enterprise space, however, is an open market with solutions just emerging. HDS seeks to be a frontrunner in the enterprise space with its three new offerings. Coupled with the reputation of trust that it shares with its customer base, HDS will look to dominate the market with first mover advantage.

Hitachi Content Platform Anywhere is the industry’s first fully integrated, on-premises solution for safe, secure filesharing and synchronisation for enterprise. HCP Anywhere was built from ground up for the enterprise, and it brings important control, flexibility, security and compliance to data to satisfy enterprise IT groups. It also offers familiar consumer-grade user experience for customers. HCP Anywhere has the advantage of ease of implementation and control; and also vital issues like encryption, key ownership and terms of service.

End users can download HCP Anywhere from the Apple iTunes store for iOS devices. An Android version is on the roadmap and is expected to be made available in the coming months.

The new version of Hitachi Content Platform (HCP) is an award-winning, high-scalable seamless cloud storage platform for data protection, enterprise mobility and content cloud. It features the most advanced metadata management in the market, and sets a reliable foundation for big data and analytics. Being multitenancy, with built-in data protection and robust security, HCP is well suited to cloud service providers who offer storage as a service. The new version of HCP can take advantage of new ecosystem of cloud applications built for Amazon S3, through APIs. Customers can also use HCP on their server platform of choice via virtualisation with VMWare.

Hitachi Cloud Services Connection (HCSC) is a cloud services partner program built on the proven HDS cloud infrastructure and solutions. HCSC is hosted and managed by HDS and is sold through the HDS partner network where partners can rebrand and resell cloud services.

Hitachi Cloud Services Connection (HCSC) is available now in Asia Pacific and globally later this year. Hitachi Cloud Service Provider Program is available now in the US, and will be available globally later this year.

Together, HDS cloud offerings enable the enterprise to reduce TCO by 60%, reduce space need for backups by 30% and enables 5 times more terabytes managed per administrator. The solution also creates a 2 year deferral on new storage purchases.
