Potong Stim Channel

Potong Stim Channel

Packet One Networks (M) Sdn Bhd or P1 once again lives up to its quirky nature and proves that it’s one of Malaysia’s progressive companies and one with a sense of humour, with the launch of its social media campaign called PotongStimChannel.com.

This campaign, on a broader scale, is part of P1’s integrated marketing campaign themed ”Potong Stim”, which you would have most likely heard of or seen in various media including social networks like Twitter and Facebook. The core message of “Potong Stim” is to communicate that using a USB modem or dongle at home as opposed to a fixed modem gives you a “potong stim” experience. I’m sure many of us share similar experiences. To solve this dilemma, the P1 One Plan comes with two modems – one fixed and one on-the-go at the price of one mobile broadband subscription.

When I travelled to New Zealand, I signed up for a skydiving experience. I was to jump off a plane at 15,000 feet only to be told an hour before the jump that the experience was cancelled due to bad weather. That was seriously “Potong Stim”, man! If you have a “Potong Stim” moment, submit it to PotongStimChannel.com. Every single day, 10 potong stim reports posted are chosen and made into news reports for viewing pleasure – with really hilarious consequences.

CHECK OUT THE HILARIOUS “POTONGSTIMCHANNEL.COM”
Have you checked out potongstimchannel.com, the social media campaign on Facebook by P1?  It is one of a kind as anyone is welcome to send in their potong stim moment or to report a potong stimmer, i.e., someone who is disappointed because what they expected to happen didn’t.

Every day, as many as 10 potong stim reports posted on Facebook are chosen and quickly made into news reports for viewing pleasure.  The presentation style is akin to a legitimate news broadcast but with a twist that makes it hilarious.  For example, one guy wrote in to say that he was dying for coffee in the office, but when he went to the pantry, there was no condensed milk left! Potong stim! The news reader who reported this suggested the odd solution of a ‘condensed cow’ so that condensed milk will always be on flow.

What makes this campaign really fun is the social sharing mechanism built in. If you send in a report, you can tag yourself and your friends. You and your friends will also be tagged when a video is produced from your submission. Tagging ensures that the video will appear on the Facebook wall of the persons involved allowing all their friends to view it and have a good laugh.  Be careful!  If you’re not active on Facebook, your friend may have already reported you as a potong stimmer and your story could be on the Potong Stim Channel.

This social media initiative is part of P1’s integrated marketing campaign themed ”Potong Stim” to communicate that using a USB modem or dongle at home as opposed to a fixed modem gives you a potong stim experience. Hence, the P1 One Plan which comes with two modems; fixed and on-the-go at the price of one mobile broadband subscription.

Michael Lai, P1 CEO said, “We’d love it if you are a P1 customer, but anyone can access and enjoy potongstimchannel.com. True to P1’s attitude, its good fun and wonderful to engage with Malaysians online in a creative and quirky way.”
